# Terms of service

The rules for using this site.

Last updated 6 October 2026 · Porpoise Conservation Society, Canada

The short version

- Be 13 or older, be kind, and don't break your platform's rules.
- Your content stays yours. We link to it; we never restream or re-host it.
- We can remove someone from the event. It's a judgement made by people, and we'll tell you why.
- Nothing here is a service guarantee, because the site is free and run by volunteers.

## Using the site

You may browse, share and link to anything public here. Don't scrape it at volume, don't try to break it, and don't use it to harass anyone. Those are the only acceptable-use rules.

## Your account

One person, one account, though it can carry several linked channels and several roles at once. Keep your sign-in to yourself, because anyone with access to your inbox can get into your account via a magic link.

Accounts are confirmed once by an organizer. After that, holding, moving and cancelling sessions is entirely yours to do, with no approval queue.

## Your content

Your streams, your recordings, your bio and your artwork remain entirely yours. By publishing a session you give us permission to show its details, your handle and your avatar on this site and in event graphics, and to link to your channel.

We do not restream, mirror, download or re-host your video. Where a recording is gone, as most Twitch recordings eventually are, we say so rather than hiding the session.

## Fundraising

Donations are made on give.porpoise.org, the Porpoise Conservation Society's own giving site, and go to the Society. Nothing on vaquita.mx takes payments. There is no fundraising target, and we make no claim about what a given amount buys.

We never hold donor money, and we can't refund, redirect or cancel a donation. That's the platform's job, and their support is quicker than ours.

Individual totals are there to say thank you, and we don't rank participants.

## Removal from the event

We can decline an application or remove a participant for breaking the code of conduct, harassing people, or misrepresenting the event or the science. A person makes that call and you'll be told the reason.

A streamer declining an ambassador is different: it needs no reason, and we never tell the ambassador who declined them or why.

## Availability

The site is free and maintained by volunteers around day jobs. It will occasionally be down, and during event week we will be fixing things live. We can't offer a service level agreement.

## Liability

We provide the site as it is. We aren't liable for what happens in someone else's chat, on someone else's platform, or on a link we point at. Where law gives you rights that can't be waived, this paragraph doesn't try to.

## Twitch extension

These terms also cover the Save The Vaquita Week extension on Twitch. It is free, sells nothing and doesn't use Bits, and it shows the same public schedule and vaquita facts as this site. Streamers can add or remove it whenever they like. Using it on Twitch also falls under Twitch's own terms of service. For help with the extension, email <hello@vaquita.mx>.

## Changes

Material changes get a note at the top of this page and an email to participants. Continuing to use the site after that means the new version applies.

[Ask us something](https://vaquita.mx/contact) If a term here seems unfair or unclear, please tell us.

Participation rules and the code of conduct sit alongside these and are the ones you'll actually feel day to day.
